What is a SWIFT code?
A SWIFT code (also called BIC โ€” Bank Identifier Code) is an 8โ€“11 character code that uniquely identifies a bank worldwide. It is required when sending or receiving international wire transfers (remittance).

Format: AAAA BB CC DDD
AAAA = Bank code (4 letters)
BB = Country code (NP for Nepal)
CC = Location code
DDD = Branch code (optional)
When do you need it?
  • Receiving money from abroad (remittance from foreign employment)
  • Sending money internationally
  • Foreign currency transactions
  • Trade finance / LC (Letter of Credit)

Tip: Always confirm the SWIFT code with your bank before a transfer. Branch-level codes end with 3 extra digits.
